Smurfs Set To Break Guinness World Record

Newbury based fancy dress giants, Jokers' Masquerade have teamed up with the students of Swansea University to smash the world record for the largest gatering of smurfs in one place at a time. The huge "Smurf Party" is set to take place on June the 8th at Swansea's Oceana nightclub.

The record currently stands with the people from Castlecarney, Co.Monaghan, who succeeded in gathering 1,253 smurfs at the Muckno Mania Festival in July 2008. Jokers' Masquerade are kindly supplying 3000 costumes to the students of Swansea free of charge so that's one less money problem for the students. To qualify as a true smurf the participant must have applied the given blue paint to any skin that is on show. Also part of the supplied costume will be a blue top, white overalls, blue ears and pointy white hat. Smurfette costumes will also be available for the girls.

To ensure that Jokers' Masquerade and the Swansea students hit the record books, a Guinness World Record adjudicator will attend the party to make it all official. The record has been broken 5 times in the last 18 months with Universities of Bath, Chester, Southampton and Portsmouth have all had an attmept at the record in the past but with Jokers' Masquerade's backing, Swansea have everything they need to be in the record books for years to come.

Smurfs were first seen in 1958 in a comic strip called "Le Journal de Spirou”. Pierre Culliford - better known as Peyo, introduced them as one of his comic strips to great success. Now the smurfs have gone global and can be seen and heard on many media platforms. A wide range of smurf toys and figurines are also available. Peyo sadly died around christmans time in 1992.

Star Trek Fancy Dress

Star Trek is a very well-known American science fiction television series. There have been 6 series ranging from 1966 to 2005. Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek Enterprise are some of the very well known Star Trek series. Eleven feature films have been released to great success, the eleventh being released in May 2009 to positive reviews. The Star Trek universe was created by Gene Roddenberry. When Gene Roddenbury started to publicly market his first series of Star Trek he described it as a western in outer space. A "Wagon Train to the stars" is one of his famous quotes before the series was released. Although he publicly marketed it in this way it is believed that he privately told people that it was meant to be more like "Gulliver's Travels" with a suspenseful adventure story mixed with hidden good morals throughout. The eleventh film sees a whole new cast with the likes of Simon Pegg as Scotty, Winona Ryder as Amanda Grayson and Zachary Quinto as Spock.

With the new film being released and all the buzz that surrounded it i decided to look for a star trek costume for a fancy dress party i had coming up. I didnt know if such a thing existed so i scanned the internet for a few minutes and came across a great site called Jokers' Masquerade (http://www.joke.co.uk/). Not only did they have a selection of Star Trek costumes, they had pretty much every other costume you could think of for very reasonable prices. Obviously online you cannot tell the quality of the costumes but when reading reviews and feedback everyone seemed to be extremely pleased with their purchases and the speed of delivery.

The Star Trek costumes are officially licensed and look very realistic. There are 6 shirts ranging in Red, Blue and Gold in the style of Star Trek Next Generation and in the style of the latest film. There is also a ladies dress in red. Also available from Jokers' Masquerade are accessories to go with the costumes, you can purchase many types of wigs and they even have spock masks and ears.

So if you are looking for a great Star Trek uniform/costume or any other fancy dress related items then i would recommend Jokers' Masquerade to you all.
